Napolitano resigns: #graziepresidente is all the rage on Twitter

Le Napolitano resigns as President of the Republic they animate i social networks. The timelines of Facebook they've been filled for hours with photos and videos of Giorgio Napolitano and considerations from Italian users about his nine years at the Quirinale.
On the one hand i thanks and the homage to the outgoing head of state seen as an exceptional referee, guarantor of the interests of all Italians. On the other, the complaints, and sometimes even the insults, from that slice of the country that hasn't shared Napolitano's political history and that rails against the costs of the Quirinale car.

Also very lively debate on Twitter, a social network that has always been very attentive to political issues. At noon today, Wednesday 14 January, in the first five places among the trends of the moment in Italy there are 4 trends relating to the theme of the Presidency of the Republic. In first place is thehashtag #ThanksPresident. Many tweets in the last few hours with this hashtag. From the concise and grateful report of the Minister for Cultural Heritage Dario Franceschini who writes “A rock in these stormy years. #graziepresidente”, to the polemical and sarcastic tweet of the honorable Member of the 5 Star Movement Charles Sibilia: "For having signed the Alfano award which ordered the suspension of the criminal trial against the High State Offices #GraziePresidente", up to this tweet from the Speaker of the Chamber Laura Boldrini who photographs her letter replying to the message from the Head of State.

In second place is the surname of the president Napolitano, used by everyone in talking about the topic of resignation as does, for example, the Minister of Health Beatrice Lorenzin who writes: "Thank you Napolitano, you are the President of 150 years of Italy and of our flag". Moving on to today's third trend on Twitter, he momentarily leaves politics to enter Twilight with the hashtag # breakingdawnparte2. The fourth trend of the moment on Twitter refers to the catchphrase of the next few days: the 'Toto Quirinale'. And among the most cited on Twitter there is Walter Veltroni who would be among the eligible candidates for the succession to Colle. And there are those who mention it but do not take the hypothesis very seriously. Here is what the Northern League secretary writes Matteo Salvini: “Last day of #Napolitano at the Quirinale, I'm not crying! Are we talking about #Veltroni instead of him? For charity! Wasn't he supposed to move to Africa???”. A lot of irony also in this tweet by FranAltomare, known for his biting satire on Twitter.

The last hashtag of the day is #Quirinale, widely used by the profiles of the press to announce the news of the resignation.
