Blank resignation, only if validated by the worker

Fine-tuned by the Government - and illustrated by Minister Fornero in the Labor Commission in the Chamber - a protection procedure that sees the participation of employers, employment centers and the worker himself - The tools that the Executive is developing will particularly affect working women

Blank resignation, only if validated by the worker

Elsa Fornero also expressed herself on the resignation in white. The Minister of Labor has indicated the way in the Montecitorio Labor Commission: the Government has ready a provision with which to identify instruments of protection. In particular, Fornero focused on working women (considered to be the most affected by the practice of blank resignations) declaring that the Government "is outlining a streamlined procedure with which, by extending the protection mechanisms already provided for by current legislation, it conditions suspensively the effectiveness of the resignation upon validation by the worker, according to criteria that will be defined with a specific ministerial decree”.

For Fornero, the administrative path thus outlined, which sees the employer, the employment centers and the worker himself as protagonists – which ultimately has the choice of confirming the resignations themselves, meaning, in the absence of such confirmation, the employment relationship is terminated – can offer adequate guarantees of effectiveness in combating the phenomenon, also in terms of the certainty of date of the resignation itself, while avoiding, at the same time, an unnecessary procedural and administrative burden to the detriment of the companies.

The law - added the minister - "appears to be an effective synthesis of the legislative proposals brought to the Commission's attention, proposing the introduction of a structured mechanism for validating blank resignations which, while taking into consideration the complexity of the phenomenon, does not appear too cumbersome and does not seem able to weigh down the activity of companies”. In any case, he assured, the Government is "available to accept alternative solutions from the Commission", if they were more effective and timely. In that case, however, he warned, "the government could not be held responsible in the event of failure or delay in solving the problem".
