Digitization, Schiavo (Tim) at the Aspen conference: "It will give a better future to future generations"

“We are convinced that the digitization of our country and its application in all fields, public, private and in environmental sustainability, will be a factor that will give a better future to the next generations. Our duty is to develop these systems and make sure that everything improves and that our country becomes more competitive. Artificial intelligence and ethics are accelerators of technological processes. The theme of the smart city is also a topic on which Tim focuses because 'for us it is a strategic issue'. He said it Elio Schiavo, chief enterprise and innovative solutions officer of Tim, at the opening of the second edition of the international conference “Ethics and Artificial Intelligence”, organized by Aspen Institute Italia, Tim, Noovle and Google Cloud at the Hilton Molino Stucky hotel in Venice.

On the occasion of the Conference, a demo area was created, curated by the Tim Group, which illustrates how Artificial Intelligence contributes to enhancing and accelerating the development of digital solutions. Different application themes: from visual AI to environmental sustainability, from security to cloud robotics, up to smart cities and data analytics. It is precisely on smart cities that the group led by Pietro Labriola is focusing with innovative solutions.

The Italian AI market will reach 1,1 billion in 2022

In the current historical context, artificial intelligence has become a geopolitical lever: the exchange of information and data management emerge as strategic elements for the security of countries. And, above all, they have assumed a primary role in European security systems, and not only in Europe.

On the economic front, we are witnessing a paradigm shift in business models and the consequent business applications. In 2021, the Italian artificial intelligence market was worth 860 million euros and will reach 1,1 billion in 2022 to reach 1,4 billion euros in 2023. The Italian government recently launched the Artificial Intelligence Strategic Program 2022-2024, to increase investment in research and development related to artificial intelligence, encouraging technology transfer and public-private initiatives that allow companies and society as a whole to make the most of technologies and artificial intelligence. For example, a great contribution can be made to the benefit of better management of large-scale waste collection, the development of smart cities and a more "dematerialized" life that is experienced in the professional field and in the school and university system.

Artificial intelligence destined to have an impact in all areas

As for Europe, artificial intelligence also enters forcefully into the two strategic transitions: that of environmental tourism is that digital. According to a recent Commission report on "Science, Research and Innovation Performance", research and innovation are central to proceeding along the path of ecological transition and the EU occupies a leading position in scientific products relating to the climate and the bioeconomy. According to the Global e-Sustainability Initiative 2020, the digital revolution has a very positive environmental impact and will lead to a 20% reduction in domestic gas emissions by 2030.

Also in theThe circular economy the potential economic value released by artificial intelligence is estimated to have a great impact: 127 billion dollars (food economy) and 90 billion dollars (consumer electronics) are valued every year on a global scale. Artificial intelligence and the digital revolution can therefore guarantee a circular economy in which products are made to be reused and recycled.
