The country has accelerated the digital transition, but digital skills are still below average. This is what emerged from the analysis of Digital Skill Voyager, the specific digital maturity assessment tool for companies

Digital, Unioncamere: investing in human capital

Italy must invest in digital skills of human capital: one out of two Italians masters the basic tools of the Internet, almost 3 out of 10 can define themselves as coaches but only 3,8% have advanced digital skills. This is what emerged from the data of Digital Skill Voyager, the new tool for assessing digital skills offered free of charge by the PIDs - Digital Enterprise Points of the Chambers of Commerce.

“Italy is facing the digital transition at great speed – he underlined Andrew Priest, president of Unioncamere -. To bring it to full fruition, however, technologies are not enough, human capital is needed that knows how to use them, enriching and innovating one's daily work. We need to work even more, therefore, on the skills of individual citizens and businesses, a priority area for intervention by the PIDs of the Chambers of Commerce ".

There is still a long way to go, especially for the over 2 students, workers and managers who completed the online test. A few more skills seem to have it i graduates that (in 4 out of 10 cases) fall into the categories of digital coaches or e-leaders compared to 21,6% of graduates. What is certain is that even among those with a high degree or even a post-graduate degree, neophytes and digital students are still over half.

If 51,3% of employees, who represent the largest group of people who have tried their hand at the Digital Skill Voyager (43,5%), are only digital "students", over a third have medium-high level skills . THE manager (which are about 9,2% of test takers) show more advanced preparation, with the 43,7% who reaches the levels of coach and e-leader (but also 44,3% of "students"). While the positioning of the entrepreneurs (which are 11% of the 2 participants): over 70% are beginners with the Internet (20,5% neophytes, 51,5% students) and only 28% have superior skills.

Digital Skill Voyager is a online test, in which the user finds himself facing a journey consisting of 5 stages: Prehistoric Era: basic digitization. Ancient Era: Communication and Sharing. Medieval Era: Computational Thinking and Coding. Modern era: Digital technologies and their applications. Future Era: Innovation and Sustainability. In the end, based on the answers provided, an evaluation is obtained which allows us to find out in which area we are placed: digital neophyte, digital learner, digital coach or a digital leader

This online test adds to the “SELF 4.0” and at the “ZOOM 4.0”, i.e. specific digital maturity assessment tools for companies as well as the numerous services aimed at increasing the digital skills of workers and entrepreneurs put on track by the PIDs and, currently, already used overall by over 380 thousand companies. There are about 3 info-training courses organized over about 4 years of activity, in which 196 companies have taken part. In addition, informative tutorials were created and vouchers were issued which enabled companies to purchase training and consultancy services for digitalisation.
