Digital divides in Italy: Lombardy, Lazio and Puglia (the only one in the South) the regions with the greatest coverage

It emerges that just under 2,4 million Italians, neither on fixed nor mobile networks, cannot access broadband services with speeds equal to or greater than 2Mbit/s. Molise, Basilicata and Calabria are the most "disadvantaged" regions, Lombardy, Puglia and Lazio are those with the greatest coverage.

Here are the main results that emerged.
Total accesses to the fixed network
The decline in accesses continues (-500.000 on an annual basis)
Fastweb grows both on an annual basis (+1,4%) and compared to the previous quarter (+0,3%)
Access to the fixed network of the OLOs
Overall, on an annual basis the total number grows (+250.000),
Compared to June 2012, ULL accesses are up (+220.000), WLR accesses are down (-160.000)
Fastweb's weight grows (from 22,4% to 25,0%)
Accentuated dynamism of Wimax services (+120.000 accesses on an annual basis), with Linkem and Aria exceeding 90% overall
Landline broadband
Telecom Italia is down, falling below 50% of broadband lines
Growth of approximately 310.000 accesses on an annual basis.
WiMax operators but above all Fastweb (+1,3%) are gaining market share
Mobile lines
Slight growth in the customer base on an annual basis (but only thanks to the increase in data sims, +1,7 million).
The market shares of Vodafone and Telecom Italia decrease (both -0,7%), that of Wind increases, which exceeds 24%
The decline in prepaid SIMs (mainly for residential users) is matched by the growth of subscription ones (mainly for business users)
Voice traffic still growing (+5,6% vs June 2012)
Reduction in text messages (replacement effect with mobile messaging "apps") (-10% on an annual basis)
Broadband mobile network
More than 34 million SIMs made data traffic in the first half of 2013 (+20,0% on an annual basis.
Data traffic continues to grow (+33%)
MVNO
MVNO lines exceeded 5 million.
Poste Italiane well over 50%
Bip meets good trading response (+140.000 lines YTD)
MNP
At the end of March, the total lines brought in since the start of the service exceeded 58 million.
