Dieselgate VW: the investigation also extends to Porsche Cayenne

According to the American federal agency, EPA, even cars with larger 3-litre engines, produced from 2014 to today, have on board the software that tricks the emissions data as in the Volkswagen case - Among the models with fraudulent software there is also the Porsche Cayenne

Dieselgate VW: the investigation also extends to Porsche Cayenne

Lo Volkswagen scandal it risks spreading to cars with large-capacity engines as well. A little over a month after the news of the false data on the emissions of cars fitted with EA189 engines, the EPA, the US federal agency for environmental protection, has also opened investigations into the Volkswagen group models fitted with V6 engines TDI of 3000 cubic capacity.

The procedure opened by the EPA is, in fact, the same as that of September: on cars with a three-litre V6 TDI engine produced from 2014 to today "the presence of irregular devices capable of circumventing, obstructing or rendering inoperative the emission control elements adopted to comply with the standards established by the Clean Air Act".

Even on these cars, the EPA would have found irregularities in the emissions data due to the presence of the 'defeat device', which alters the data just like in the case of EA189 engines. Just yesterday we provided you with one list of Volkswagen cars fitted with that type of engine and that therefore they could have the emissions-tweaking software 'on board'. This list, after the novelty of the new EPA procedure, could be immediately updated with the inclusion of the cars in the Volkswagen galaxy that mount the three-liter V6 TDI. This would be about 10 thousand cars sold from 2014 to today: Volkswagen Touareg, Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7 and Q5 and Audi A6, A7, A8 and A8L.

Meanwhile, Volkswagen with a note denies the hypothesis of the EPA and "would like to underline that no software has been installed in the 6-liter V3.0 diesel engines to modify the characteristics of the emissions in a prohibited manner".
