Japanese authorities have asked automaker groups for new emission controls – The ministry wants to see if the inspection system is sufficient.

The consequences of the Dieselgate that overwhelmed are widening Volkswagen. In fact, the Japanese authorities have announced that they have asked vehicle manufacturers to verify that diesels comply with emission standards. There are four Japanese companies that use diesel engines: Toyota, Nissan, Mazda and Mitsubishi.

The four groups, according to the Ministry of Transport, would have until Friday to deliver their reports. As a ministry official said: "We are collecting information to understand what happened and check whether our inspection system is sufficient."
