Dieselgate: maxi-search at Daimler in Germany

The Stuttgart public prosecutor's office ordered the search of various buildings belonging to the Daimler group as part of the investigation opened in March against employees of the German automotive group suspected of fraud on polluting emissions from cars. It was Daimler itself who made it known, specifying that the company "cooperates fully with the authorities". The public prosecutor's office in turn indicated that it had issued a search warrant involving 23 investigators and 230 police officers and concerned 11 buildings belonging to Daimler located in the Bade-Wurtemberg land, in Berlin, in Lower Saxony and in Saxony.

The scandal known as dieselgate broke out in autumn 2015 and first of all affected the Volkswagen group, when it was discovered that various car models were fitted with software that made it possible to make the quantity of polluting emissions appear lower than the real ones. The investigation was then extended to various countries and various manufacturers. On the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, the Daimler share, shortly after 15 pm, recorded a decline of 0,7%, while the Dax index increased by 0,3%.
