Diesel: the price in Italy is 19% higher than in Germany

In Italy, Diesel costs on average 18,9% more than in Germany. A worthwhile difference up to 13 euros more for a full tank. This is what emerges from an analysis by the European Union of Uecoop cooperatives on prices at the pump in relation to the cut on fuel excise duties announced later this year by Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini.

“And if petrol is taken into consideration – explains the Uecoop analysis on Globalpetrolprices data – the differential with service stations in Germany reaches 12,4%. In the EU, after the Sweden with 1,52 euros per litre, it is Italy that pays for the most expensive diesel in Europe, with 1,51 euros per litre, while the record price for petrol is Netherlands, with an average value of 1,69 per litre, followed by Greece with 1,66, while Italy follows closely with 1,63 euros per litre”.

The prices of full retail from the north to the south of the peninsula - underlines Uecoop - they can also vary by several cents per litre depending on whether “you go to a serviced or self-service station, whether you are on the motorway network or refueling at a so-called white pump, i.e. outside the network of large oil companies. Italy is in the top ten for the most expensive petrol in the world with serious repercussions both on household budgets and on the costs that businesses have to face every day for transport and travel”.
