Eighteen is unlocked: Salvini under investigation disembarks the migrants

After 10 days it unlocked the case of the ship Diciotti, the patrol boat of the Italian Coast Guard with 150 migrants on board that the Minister of the Interior and Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini had stopped in the port of Catania to prevent their reception.

Two innovations have contributed to unblocking the situation: Minister Salvini's entry in the register of suspects on the initiative of the prosecutor of Agrigento who accuses him of kidnapping, illegal arrest and abuse of office and, above all, the willingness shown by Albania, Ireland and the Catholic Church to welcome the migrants who were still on the ship. The international mediation of the Foreign Minister, Enzo Moavero Milanesi, who acted with the full support of the Quirinale, was decisive in this regard.

Salvini obviously protested against the action of the judiciary which puts him in the dock: "It's a shame but I will welcome the Agrigento prosecutor with a smile". Earlier he had threatened to push Italy not to vote on the next community budget and who knows if Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, who has always been in tow with Salvini and Di Maio, will decide to make his voice heard.

In an interview with the Libero newspaper, Salvini increases the dose: “I only did my job as a minister and I'm ready to do it again. For the rest, I'm sorry for the prosecutor of Agrigento. I think that with all the problems Sicily has, the priority is certainly not to investigate Salvini. And then he was the same one who said a few months ago: 'The risk of terrorists aboard the boats is high.'. When asked if he will ask the Senate to say no to the authorization to proceed, Salvini replies: “Absolutely not! If the Tribunal says that I have to be tried, I will go before the magistrates to explain that I am not a kidnapper. I just want to see how it ends…”.

In reality, the tug of war with Europe and with the judiciary that Salvini's muscular policy has imposed for days and days has brought to light with ever greater clarity the true objective of the sovereign government, which is not only to win forthcoming elections with demagogic and populist initiatives but to push Italy out of the European Union. From this point of view, Salvini's imminent meeting with the Hungarian premier Orban in Milan aims to strengthen political relations with the xenophobic countries of the Visegrad group, without the Five Stars realizing it or being able to react.

Salvini knows very well that Orban has no intention of giving Italy a hand for the relocation of migrants in Europe but this is not what worries him: on the contrary, the fake emergency on migrants serves him to demonstrate that the European Union is not in able to solve the immigration problem by changing the Dublin treaty, which the Visegrad group itself does not want to change.
