To prevent the escape of companies, especially multinationals, from the areas hit by the earthquake the Region announces that contributions will be granted only to those who remain. This was stated by Giancarlo Muzzarelli, Councilor for Productive Activities, at the Legislative Assembly of Emilia-Romagna, according to reports from the Dire news agency.
"All European, national, regional and local contributions - said Muzzarelli, answering questions from some councilors - will be granted exclusively to companies that confirm their stay in the area". The area hit by the earthquake straddling the three provinces of Modena, Ferrara and Bologna has an important economic weight, because it represents 1,8% of the national GDP and this patrimony must not be wasted.
The region therefore shows "total availability only in cases of "agreed partial and temporary displacements". Furthermore, Viale Aldo Moro "asked that the granting of aid for the temporary location of structures seriously damaged by the earthquake should also be included in the cases of contributions to companies". For multinationals, i.e. the companies most exposed to the risk of relocation, "all direct and indirect contact channels have been activated to avoid hasty and unjustified decisions, meeting so far availability and understanding of the dramatic difficulties of the moment".
