The French and Belgian finance managers will meet on Monday 3 October: the subject of the summit is the difficult future of Dexia, grappling with insistent rumors about an integration plan with Banque Postale and Caisse des Depots (Cdc). The news was disclosed this morning by the French economic newspaper Les Echos.
The interbank operation, according to the newspaper's analysts, would allow Dexia to strengthen itself financially and to respond to the needs of local communities, grappling with the banking system's credit crunch on public works. According to the newspaper, Monday's meeting will serve to respond to general concerns about the fate of the institute and requests from the CDC and the Banque Postale in view of possible integration
