Dexia, 5,5 billion euros arriving from France and Belgium

The Belgian Finance Minister announces that "it has been decided to increase the capital of Dexia by an amount of 5,5 billion euros, of which Belgium will take over 53%" - The two governments will receive in exchange from the Bank preference shares with to vote.

The two governments will receive in return preference shares with voting rights, in order to secure any future profits of the bank.

Dexia had already received state funds for 6,4 billion euros in 2008. In the meantime, the Bank also presented its accounts for the first nine months of the year, closed with a net loss of 2,391 billion euros.
