Deutsche Bank, losses of 351 million in the last quarter of 2011

The result surprised analysts, who were instead expecting a positive performance of 1,05 billion – All negatively impacted by the bad performance of investment banking, the write-down of shareholdings and legal expenses.

In the fourth quarter Deutsche Bank reported a pre-tax loss of 351 million euros. The result surprised analysts who were instead expecting a positive result of 1,05 billion.

The poor performance of the investment banking division weighed heavily (422 million), the write-down of equity investments (722 million) and costs incurred for lawsuits (380 million) which canceled the pre-tax profits obtained by the retail and wealth management division (392 million euro).

In the fourth quarter of 2010 the bank had instead filed a profit of 707 million. On the Stock Exchange Deutsche Bank lost 2,64% to 33,14 euros.
