BAMBOO RUSH DESIGN 2021 – Registration by July 20th 2021. Project delivery by August 31st 2021

Design: International competition for the design and creation of an innovative object in bamboo

Il Labyrinth of the Masone, with the patronage of ADI (Industrial Design Association) and AIB (Italian Bamboo Association), has announced the fourth edition of international design competition, which involves the design and construction of a bamboo item.

With this contest the Labyrinth of the Masone, which has one of the main reasons for its originality in bamboo (the Labyrinth, the largest in the world, is entirely made up of about twenty different species of bamboo) focuses attention on the intrinsic characteristics of this extraordinary plant, elegant and with a thousand virtues .

The competition aims to highlight the value of bamboo in achieving international policy goals, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the commitments under the Paris Agreement on climate change by promoting the use of bamboo for the design of objects for daily use.

The competition therefore aims to be a stimulus to the use of bamboo, favoring a design product for domestic use or intended for public spaces, or even structures such as roofs or galleries.

The project must enhance the technical and aesthetic properties and the expressive potential of bamboo, which can be integrated with other materials. Particular attention will be paid to any technological innovations, also relating to the possible production cycle of the object and the strategy to minimize the impact on the environment.

It is an international competition, which by dividing it into two categories, junior  e senior, gives the opportunity to participate both to individual students or in groups, regularly enrolled in high schools of graphics, furniture, design, architecture or design faculties, doctorates, masters and equivalent courses, both to designers, architects, individually or in groups, as well as graduate or graduate employees working in the design and planning sector, artists, creatives.
