DERBY DELLA MOLE – The forecast says Juve but the derby is the derby and the Bull dreams of the feat

There is no match on paper but the derby is unpredictable and Torino relies on their grenade heart to overturn the adverse predictions – The Bull has not won the derby for 19 years – But Juve, reassured by their victory in the Champions League, wants consolidate the lead in the standings with an eye on Roma-Inter – Agnelli-Cairo: it's already the derby.

And after the Duomo, the Mole also lights up. Once the Milan derby has been archived, the championship offers us that of Turin, very different but still heartfelt and full of charm. Each derby has its own particularities, God forbid, but the one between Juventus and Turin is undoubtedly unique. In fact, no Italian city has two teams so different from each other, from all points of view. Let's start from the standings which, as for almost 40 years now, will see the bianconeri ahead of the grenades. This time the points of detachment are 19, the positions between one (1st) and the other (15th) are 14 and, looking closely, in the past the gap was even wider.

Juve comes from three consecutive victories (5 if the Champions League is also taken into consideration), Toro from two defeats (the last success dates back to 29 October, 1-0 over Parma), just mitigated by the draw in the Europa League. Already overwhelming numbers, which even become pitiless when thinking of the Juventus Stadium, the scene of the derby number 230 (the 165th in Serie A): no one has been able to take away points since 11 May 2013 (1-1 with Cagliari), since then 23 victories consecutive, an absolute record for Italian football.

Will Torino be able to break the taboo? Logic would say no, not even the precedents between the teams. "They play to win but for over 15 years they haven't succeeded and haven't even scored" the sting of Andrea Agnelli, to which Urbano Cairo could only oppose a "recently we haven't had any satisfaction, but things will change". In reality, the Juventus president was all too good: Toro's last victory dates back to 19 years ago. On April 9, 1995, a brace from Rizzitelli made the people of Granata enjoy, but since then there have been 12 black and white victories and 4 draws.

Almanacs are also needed for the last goal conceded by the Lady: 24 February 2002, Cauet in the 2-2 final (then Maresca equalized with lots of provocative "horns"). In short, it would seem that there is no match between Juventus and Turin, if it weren't for the so-called "derby air". Yes, because a derby embodies a whole series of things that go beyond technical values. It is no coincidence that the people of Toro cling to the famous "grenade heart", which once often managed to bridge the differences with the black and white excessive power.

The 3-2 on 27 March 1983 was unforgettable, when Dossena, Bonesso and Torrisi overturned, in 4 minutes (!) a derby that seemed to have already been won by the Lady. The 3-3 draw on 14 October 2001 also defended well: Juve, leading 3-0 at the end of the first half, were joined by goals from Lucarelli, Ferrante and Maspero, the same man who then, with time practically up, propitiated the error from the penalty spot by Salas digging a prison hole. Satisfactions that have been missing for years for Toro, now subject to the law of Juventus. Will she reign supreme this time too or will it be time for revolution? The tough answer at the derby della Mole…
