State property, the state spends 1,2 billion to rent properties

Scalera, director of the Agenzia del Demanio, takes stock of the State's patrimonial situation before the Finance Commission of the Chamber. The total real estate assets are 55,5 billion euros. The units that the state rents from third parties are over 10 thousand and constitute an item of expenditure of 1,2 billion euros.

State property, the state spends 1,2 billion to rent properties

The state spends 1,2 billion euros (VAT included) on rents. Stefano Scalera, director of the state property agency, presented the numbers of the state's real estate assets in a hearing to the Finance commission of the Chamber. The assets owned by third parties for government use are 10.696. The value of assets owned by the state amounts to 55,6 billion euro, over 20.000 units.

Of these 34,7 billion are related to assets that are part of the available and unavailable assets, 20,2 billion are assets belonging to historic-artistic state property, while the remaining 0,7% of assets are located abroad.For use government real estate assets worth 47 billion euros are used.

Scalera then raised an alarm linked to downturn in the real estate market: "The prices of sales have fallen, this can create a problem for the valorisation of public properties". Scalera stated that the issue of valorising properties on the market "deserves to be tackled".
