School decree, green light: all promoted and simpler exams

The Government has approved the decree that establishes what will become of the 2019-2020 school year - The watershed date will be May 18: the Maturity risks being only oral

School decree, green light: all promoted and simpler exams

All promoted with the new one school decree. While the Council of Ministers is still in progress - also called to launch the liquidity decree – the Government announces that it has given the go-ahead to the provision on the end of the 19-20 school year and on the fate of the Terza Media and Maturità exams.

Exceptionally, considering the seriousness of the coronavirus emergency, there will be no fails this year. All students will be admitted to the next class, even those who ended the first quarter with more than one serious failure. However, the Minister of Education, Lucia Azzolina, is keen to clarify that it is not a “political 6”, because the students will be evaluated on the basis of the results produced (even in distance learning) and next year the insufficiencies will still have to be made up for. No "pardons", then.

IF YOU RETURN TO CLASS BY MAY 18

As for the state exams, the date to keep in mind is May 18th. If within this deadline there are the sanitary conditions to return to class (a very remote prospect), another four weeks of traditional lessons will be held.

After that, the Maturity will take place with a simplified procedure, but substantially similar to that of always. It will begin on June 17 with the theme of Italian, the same for everyone. The second written test, however, "will not be of a national nature, but prepared by the single examination commission so that it adheres to the educational activities carried out during the school year". And the commission – the decree continues – will be made up of internal professors and an external president. The oral exams will start at the end of June.

For the examination of Third year of middle school, "is provided the elimination of one or more tests reformulating the methods of attributing the final grade”, the decree continues.

IF YOU DON'T RETURN TO CLASS BY MAY 18

If, on the other hand, for health reasons it will not be possible to return to school before May 18 (as is probable), the teaching activity will not resume at all in the classroom for this year.

In this case, maturity will be really upset: the first and second rounds will skip completely and the evaluation will be entrusted exclusively to the oral, "a single interview, articulating its contents, methods, including electronic ones, and scoring, to guarantee the completeness and adequacy of the evaluation".

Goodbye also to the eighth grade exams. Finally, for the pupils who will have training gaps (presumably many), there is the possibility of recovering "the learning relating to the 2019-2020 school year during the following school year, starting from 1 September 2020, as an ordinary teaching activity".
