US debt, from the Republicans a plan to raise the ceiling and postpone the risk of default

A turning point is coming from Washington that could postpone the risk of default for the United States. Republican leaders in the House have developed a plan to raise the debt ceiling by six weeks, without setting political conditions.

The US Treasury has warned that federal resources will run out after October 17 if the current limit of $16.700 trillion is not changed.

The new plan - revealed by sources from the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times - will be illustrated to the group of Republican deputies in the morning, during a closed-door meeting. A summit with the White House will take place in the afternoon.
