Pa debts, Grilli unlocks the first 10 billion

The first ones are coming 10 and a half billion to settle the debts of the public administration towards companies. Yesterday evening the Minister of the Treasury, Vittorio Grilli, signed the decree to release the first tranche of the package of 40 billion in two years approved last Saturday by the Government.

The provision allocates the funds to advance the resources necessary to guarantee the payment of the local entities payables accrued as at 31 December 2012 (10 billion euros) and those intended for the payment of debts of ministries (500 million euros).

The latter funds will mainly serve to extinguish the debts for the institutional functions of the police forces throughout the national territory, as well as for the functioning of the judicial organization and the maintenance of prisoners.

For their part, however, the industrialists are not satisfied. "Confindustria expected more courage from the Monti government", said the number one of viale dell'Astronomia yesterday, George Squinzi, specifying that "without improvements to the decree, the country will continue to be in great difficulty".
