De Benedetti: "God save us from Berlusconi and M5S: Gentiloni better than Renzi"

The honorary president of Gedi, Carlo De Benedetti gives the report cards to the Italian politicians: he rejects Berlusconi and all the center-right, the M5S and D'Alema and criticizes Renzi preferring Gentiloni - A dig also for Scalfari for the hypothesis of agreements between Forza Italia and Pd

De Benedetti: "God save us from Berlusconi and M5S: Gentiloni better than Renzi"

Silvio Berlusconi? “A great companion: he is not ashamed to repeat the things he said 23 years ago and he does it with the same impudence. The reappearance of Berlusconi is grotesque”. The grillini? "In the cities they administer, from Livorno to Rome, the Five Stars have always given proof of inexperience and sometimes incapacity". An anti-system government between Grillo, Salvini and Meloni? "God forbid and deliver us." And the adventure of D'Alema? "Silly". Finally Renzi: “He has disappointed not only me but many Italians. It was an element of novelty and freshness and he did well as prime minister but he was wrong on the referendum and especially after not drawing the consequences ”. The engineer Carlo De Benedetti, industrialist and publisher and now honorary president of Gedi, born from the merger between the Espresso-Repubblica group and La Stampa, has something for everyone and among politicians spares almost no one: "I could vote white card” he tells Corriere della Sera and also throws a dig at Eugenio Scalfari, who would throw Luigi Di Maio from the tower instead of Berlusconi, for having hypothesized, albeit under certain conditions, an agreement of necessity between Forza Italia and Pd to avoid the ungovernability of the country. “I think Scalfari did it out of vanity” hisses De Benedetti.

In reality, the engineer would not throw everyone from the tower and has words of open praise for the premier Paolo Gentiloni: “Gentiloni is the natural candidate for prime minister of the Democratic Party. He is one who gets things done and has many competent ministers with him: Padoan, Calenda, Minniti, Delrio, Franceschini and others” who, in truth, had been chosen by Renzi in his government of a thousand days. De Benedetti's hope is that the Gentiloni government, despite the polls, can continue even after the spring elections. But never with Berlusconi.
