Competition bill: yes by the Chamber, now it passes to the Senate

The bill arrives at Palazzo Madama despite the abstention of Civic Choice, which protests against the halt to the liberalization of class C drugs – Contrari Sel, Forza Italia and Movimento 5 Stelle.

In the bill on Competition passes to the Senate. The text received the green light today from the Camera with 269 yes and 168 no. There were 23 abstentions, mostly attributable to Civic choice, in protest against the halt, which arrived yesterday, on the liberalization of class C drugs.

The group leader explained this choice Andrea Mazziotti, who spoke in the courtroom: “Scelta Civica has made the freedom of the market its banner, we are the only party that does so and the evaluation is done on votes, not on chatter. If the votes are always in the opposite direction, we cannot define ourselves as liberals, we are here to unmask this type of attitude, we do not think that this government should give in to vetoes".

The veto is that of the New Centre-right, which pushed for the denial of the possibility that prescription C drugs were also sold in parapharmacies and in the corners of large-scale retailers: "It is clear - declared the deputy Adriana Galnago - that Ncd vetoed our amendment. We have asked the Government to return to the Chamber, the Government did not want to do so. Therefore, considering this measure a measure of missed opportunities, we abstain".

On the other hand, Sel, Forza Italia and Movimento Cinque Stelle voted against the bill. The Verdi supporters of the Mixed Group were in favour, thus confirming their external support for the majority.
