A reflection by young graduates on the relationship between Europe, Regions and citizens. In memory of the former president of the European Parliament, David Sassoli, who passed away last January, the Tuscany Region has promoted the tender "Europe, Regions and Citizens". On the occasion of Europe Day 2022 the call is open from the August 1 to the September 30 to all students of Tuscan universities. The Regional Council he thus intends to cross the values ​​of Europe with the spirit that has animated Sassoli since his election in Strasbourg. The allocated contribution of 10 euros will be distributed as follows: 5 euros to the winner of the first prize, 3 to the second and 2 to the third. The figure of the former President will have to find space in the papers and research of young people enrolled in all regional universities. There will only be a choice between European construction, citizenship, European institutions, the role of civil society. Sassoli's speeches and interventions are a mine of intentions and ideas ranging fromenvironment, energy, agriculture, migratory phenomena, scientific research. The idea of ​​the tender dedicated to David Sassoli was developed by the European Policies Commission of the Regional Council and received media consecration on the occasion of the inauguration of the Media Center named after the MEP himself.

Sassoli engaged and successful on the most complex issues

All those who have obtained a master's degree diploma (2nd cycle) or single-cycle master's degree, from 1/9/2021 until the call deadline (September 30, 2022) at Tuscan universities. However, the arguments must relate to “Europe, the Regions and the Citizens”. This initiative - they say in the Region - is not only a nice way to remember David Sassoli, but wants to offer deserving young people the opportunity to grow and dream in the wake of European values. TO side there is no shortage of David's memories and ties with his land, such as when he sent a strong and warm message for the first day of Europe. In Europe he had worked on more complex issues, often bringing his positions to political groups that were not left-wing or openly right-wing. Towards young people building a barrier-free Europe and on environmental issues such as the Green New Deal his contribution was crucial. With well-done dissertations, young people will demonstrate how current those battles are that David would have continued to fight if the disease hadn't stopped him. A comfort for those who knew and appreciated him.
