Danone, quarter ok despite Europe: sales +5%, but in Spain and Italy -10%

Danone continues to grow in the third quarter of 2012. The French agri-food group, world leader in the distribution of water, dairy products and infant and health nutrition, closed the year in September with an increase in turnover of 5,257 billion euros (+5 %), thanks in particular to its activity in emerging countries.

The group therefore confirms its growth target of 5-7%, despite the fact that the crisis has heavily affected the performance of Southern Europe, in particular Spain and Italy where sales fell by 10%. “The situation – said the financial manager, Pierre Andre Terisse – remains favorable all over the world except Europe”, where however the transalpine giant concentrates 35% of its business.
