Denmark, right turn: Rasmussen wins, double populists

Conservatives in power in Denmark. The blue block led by the former premier Lars Locke Rasmussen it won over 90 seats out of a total of 179, thus obtaining a majority in the Scandinavian country's parliament, thanks above all to the surprising success of the xenophobic populists of the Danish People's Party.

Il Party of the people, who pushed hard on the issue of immigration during the electoral campaign, won 21,1% of the votes. Less than the Social Democrats of outgoing premier Helle Thorning-Schmidt, who obtained 26,3% of the votes, but who, at the coalition level, ended up behind the blue block.

After four years at the helm of the country, Thorning-Schmidt has announced her resignation, while Lars Lokke Rasmussen, despite the decline in his party (which lost 7% of the votes) will once again be prime minister, after having already been since 2009 to 2011 and has already expressed all his satisfaction: “Four years ago we handed over the keys to the prime minister's office. It was just a loan."
