From Russia, no more "made in the EU" vegetables

Just on the day the European Commission lifted the alert regarding cucumbers from Spain, Russia decided to ban the import of greens and fresh vegetables from all EU countries. This was stated by the head of the Consumer Defense Agency, Gennady Onishchenko.
The cause of the ban is the now famous enterohaemorrhagic escherichia coli (Eceh), which caused 16 deaths in Germany and one in Sweden (also in this case, however, the victim had stayed on German territory). United States health authorities report that two American citizens, returning from a trip to Germany, have also been infected with the bacterium.
The Eceh epidemic strain has aspects that are still unexplained by experts: for example, it mainly affects women and not children, who in theory would have a less developed immune system.
