D'Alimonte: "Pd is wrong to attack Monti, who is a levee against Berlusconi"

Political scientist Roberto d'Alimonte, full professor at Luiss and a great expert on electoral flows, warned Bersani in an interview with "La Stampa": "The Democratic Party is wrong to attack the premier because Monti is a barrier against Berlusconi and if he remains above the 8% in the Senate the Cavaliere remains a marginal actor”

D'Alimonte: "Pd is wrong to attack Monti, who is a levee against Berlusconi"

"Bersani is wrong to attack Monti because in this way he favors Berlusconi's bipolar game while the Professor is a barrier against the Knight". The political scientist Roberto D'Alimonte, a great expert on electoral flows and professor at Luiss, does not mince words and, in an interview with "La Stampa" questions the electoral tactics of Bersani's Pd and his growing criticism of Monti above all for the candidacy of the former mayor of Milan Albertini in Lombardy.

In doing so, the Democratic Party risks favoring Berlusconi's bipolar scheme, which in his opinion is around 20% of the votes but "it is unlikely that it can go further because the ground beneath its feet has collapsed and its background has deteriorated".

The decisive match will be played, as is known in the Senate, but “as long as Monti remains above 8% in the Senate – continues D'Alimonte – Berlusconi remains a marginal player. There are three possible outcomes: 1) absolute majority of Bersani-Sel in the Chamber and in the Senate; 2) majority with Monti in the Senate; 3) more catastrophic scenario: there isn't even a Bersani-Monti majority in the Senate, a hypothesis that can only be avoided if Monti remains above 8%”.
