Daimler, new Dieselgate after Vw

There is no rest for the German automotive sector. After that of Volkswagen, a new Dieselgate could soon open: the US Department of Justice has opened an internal investigation into the emission certification process. This was announced by the same company which, through a statement, declared that the group "is collaborating fully with the authorities, will investigate possible indications of irregularities and will take the necessary actions".

The story dates back to two months ago, when a consumer filed a class action lawsuit against Daimler for suspected manipulation. At the center of the investigation once again a diesel engine. The exhaust emissions of a Mercedes vehicle would exceed the limits set by US law.

The lawsuit, filed in New Jersey by the owner of a car equipped with a BlueTec diesel engine, concerns Mercedes. The company would have "knowingly programmed the engine with settings that emit levels of nitrogen oxides above the limits". The studio is still the same, that Hagens Berman who brought a lawsuit against Volkswagen months ago. The German company dismissed the accusation as "unfounded".

Going into detail, the emissions would reach temperatures below 10 degrees, about 65 times the maximum limit set by US law.

Investors may not hear news of yet another investigation into the German auto sector anytime soon. On the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, Daimler shares are currently down 5,8%. Volkswagen is also bad, losing 2,73%. The contagion effect also spread to Italy where FCA and Ferrari lost 2,5% and 1,3% respectively. Cnh is also bad (-1,9%).
