Daimler, the Chinese Geely Group becomes the first shareholder

The Daimler group confirms that the entrepreneur Li Shufu, owner of the Geely group, has acquired 9,69% of the company's shareholding by raking up 103.619.340 shares on the market. 'Daimler is pleased to announce - explains group communications chief Jorg Howe in an email message - that it has gained another long-term committed shareholder in Li Shufu, who is convinced by Daimler's innovative strength, its strategy and of future potential'.

Daimler, continues the message, 'knows and appreciates Li Shufu as a particularly prepared Chinese entrepreneur with a clear vision for the future, with whom it will be possible to constructively discuss change in the sector'. Daimler, Howe concludes, 'has a large portfolio and footprint in China and with Baic Motors a strong partner there'.
