From Sony-Ericsson to Sony and that's it, the Japanese are negotiating to buy the Swedish share of the joint venture

The contract expires this month – The Japanese company would like to close the game as soon as possible to recover the market shares lost in a few months in the competitive smartphone market.

Sony is negotiating with Ericsson to buy back the Swedes' stake in the joint venture linking the two groups. This was confirmed by sources from Reuters and the Wall Street Journal, even if those directly involved prefer not to comment. The partnership contract that gave birth to the Sony-Ericssonn brand, which specializes in the production of smartphones, will expire this month.

Many analysts believe that the Japanese company has an interest in quickly becoming the sole owner of the joint venture in order to recover the ground lost in recent months on the crowded market for latest generation mobile phones. On the Tokyo Stock Exchange, the last session closed with a 4% drop for Sony shares.
