Linate closes from Saturday 27 July: Fs boosts trains

Linate airport closes due to runway works. Announced for some time, the decision has now become actual: starting tomorrow, Saturday 27 July to 27 October the airport will remain closed. Flights and passengers will be "diverted" to the airports of Milan Malpensa and Bergamo Orio al Serio.

To facilitate travel and connections to the two airports and to intercept the expected greater traffic of passengers on the train (100.000 according to the expectations of the railway group), Trenitalia (FS group) has decided to upgrade the trains both between Rome and Milan and towards the Milan Rogoredo station as reported in a note from the railway company:

The connections between the main stations of Milan (Centrale, Porta Garibaldi and Rogoredo) and Rome (Termini and Tiburtina) are increasing. More stops in Milano Rogoredo with more assistance and information for all travellers.
Actions that will make it possible to ensure a wider and more widespread offer between Milan and Rome thanks to a 55% increase (compared to August 2018) in connections and more than 15 seats offered per day. The upgrading of the Milano Rogoredo station, where 50 will stop, also fits into this perspective Frecciarossa, fourteen more than the 2018-2019 winter timetable.

Also implemented the services of customer care: the lounge Arrow Room of Milan Rogoredo, whose capacity has been increased to 25 seats, will remain open with extended hours (from 6 to 21.30, as long as you have a CartaARROW) and new self-service areas were installed. It will also be possible, in the main stations of Milan, to change the ticket up to a few minutes before departure, thanks also to a desk for information and assistance to people on busy days and during peak times at the station.

This offer will also satisfy the needs of the approximately 100 additional people who, according to estimates, will choose to travel with Trenitalia during the closure of Milan Linate airport.
