From Bank of Italy to the State comes 8,9 billion

From the Bank of Italy 8,9 billion are arriving in the state coffers. A breath of fresh air, which is extremely important for a country in the midst of the coronavirus emergency, comes thanks to the 7,8 billion super coupon, which represents 95,3% of the net profit achieved with management in 2019 (+32% compared to 2018, when via Nazionale insured 5,7 billion to the Treasury), and to taxes of approximately 2 billion. The total is almost 9 billion and it was possible thanks to the net profit achieved by the Bank of Italy in 2019, equal to 8,246 billion.

In the last five years, the gross result - before taxes and provisions - totaled 41 billion: the cumulative amount recognized to the State therefore reaches 21 billion, plus 6 billion in taxes. The shareholders (who are now 143 participants, increased by 83 units since the 2013 reform) have been assigned a dividend of 340 million euros, in line with the sums insured in recent years, with a yield of 4,5%.

The data was communicated while the governor Ignazio Visco was speaking at the opening of the meeting this morning. In his speech, Visco reiterated his alarm over the ongoing emergency: “The country, Europe, the whole world share anxiety and difficulty in facing an extraordinary challenge. The sudden spread of Covid-19, in addition to seriously threatening the health of the population and putting health systems under extreme pressure, has upset our lifestyles, work processes, the functioning of schools and universities; the impact on the economic and financial system will be very large and profound".

"As part of its functions and in concert with the other national institutions - added the economist -, the Bank of Italy has taken the necessary actions to contain the economic fallout of the pandemic. Having the health of all staff as our top priority, we continue to guarantee the provision of essential services to the community".

Then Ignazio Visco intervened Alberto Oliveti, president of Adepp, the association of professional social security funds, including the funds that participate in the capital of Bankitalia with an overall share of more than 16,8%. Having praised the results of the financial statements, Oliveti took the opportunity "to underline the full agreement by the Banks of the Bank of Italy's decision to intervene in support of the national and local authorities involved, in these difficult days, in the prevention and contrast action of the epidemiological emergency from Covid 19 ". At the end of the assembly, strictly by videoconference for the majority of its members, the Superior Council met.
