Cybersecurity: Tim launches the first Made in Italy microchip and the stock soars on the stock market

The first cryptographic microprocessor (Secure Microchip) completely Made in Italy:. Tim launched the first microchip, designed entirely in Italy by Telsy and created by a European supply chain, designed for improve security in various technological sectors, including mobile devices, Smart Cities, cloud infrastructure, Internet of Things (IoT) and defense systems. The stock market applauds.

The project was presented during the "Made in Italy for Cybersecurity" event in which it participated Adolfo Urso, Minister of Business and Made in Italy ei Tim's leaders. “We are here today to demonstrate how important it is today to work together on the country's strategic assets and the industrial vitality of Tim and symbolize the technological sovereignty that we want to pursue to protect ourselves from risks and to combat cyber crime,” said Urso.

Strengthen technological autonomy and sovereignty

The Secure Microchip cryptographic microprocessor was icreated by a group of Italian engineers of Telsy, Tim's company specializing in cryptographic security and cybersecurity. The innovative device represents a new tool to enhance technological autonomy and sovereignty, within cybersecurity strategies at both a national and European level.

High standards of “Security by design”

The proposed solution is highly flexible and can be integrated into various contexts, respecting the most advanced standards of “safety by design“. It guarantees the full reliability of encrypted communications and represents an Italian-made "security atom" (root of trust).

The microchip is designed to ensure the security of computer and communications systems that handle sensitive or confidential information. The production of the microprocessor involves a completely European supply chain, with the collaboration of important companies in the sector.

Designed for different technological areas

The microprocessor is designed to be used in various sectors, including civil, military and industrial, as well as the protection of critical infrastructure such as railway tracks, electricity and water networks and dams. It also extends to the increasingly widespread contexts ofInternet of Things, in particular in smart cities for the security of data coming from sensors or cameras in urban and extra-urban areas.

In the industrial sector, the Secure Microchip preserves the entire production cycle integrating a sophisticated cryptographic system with advanced cybersecurity features, ensuring the security of communications between devices (machine to machine).

The microprocessor represents a concrete solution for security needs of small and medium-sized enterprises and other entities that must comply with the strict regulations cybersecurity requirements of the Cyber Resilience Act and the EU Nis2 and CER directives.

As part ofauthentication, the microprocessor generates cryptographic tokens to enable secure access to data and cloud services from mobile devices and PCs, for example for business or public utility applications. It can be integrated into servers, especially in private cloud contexts, and finds applications in Public Administration services, such as digital identity, as well as in financial and home banking systems.

With this project, the TIM Group makes new innovative technological solutions available for cybersecurity, representing a significant step forward in the international promotion of "made in Italy" in the strategic semiconductor sector.

“Let's go back to talking about industry and innovation,” he said Peter Labriola, CEO of Tim – “The digitalisation of the country system does not only involve the construction of fiber infrastructure, but also involves the development of a series of services for the family segment and for businesses. We work to have cutting-edge services."
