Cyberbullying: Generali Italia and Informatici Senza Frontiere launch “Bullyctionary”

In the online world, words flow quickly and are often used lightly, forgetting the weight and consequences they can have in people's real lives. This is why Generali Italia together with Informatici Senza Frontiere are launching “Bullyctionary”, the first online dictionary which collects and monitors the words most used by online bullies. Generali Italia therefore takes sides alongside young people and their families to raise awareness, inform and educate on the phenomenon of cyberbullying, a constantly growing phenomenon, which in 80% it starts in school but then, according to data from Istat, Telefono Azzurro and Save the Children, 61% continue on social networks.

“Bullyctionary” it is aimed in particular at children between 10 and 14 years of age, an age group considered particularly at risk, and their families who are not always prepared to deal adequately with the phenomenon. But not only on the web, the project is spread throughout the country with meetings dedicated to families in the Italian General Agencies with teams of experts, made up of Computer Scientists Without Borders and psychologists to respond to the needs of adults in managing difficult situations. The initiative will also involve employees of all Generali Country Italia offices. The goal is to support the educational and preventive action of families, facilitating the correct reading of issues related to bullying and offering a privileged window for understanding the dynamics of the world of children.

This initiative strengthens the collaboration between Generali Italia and Informatici Senza Frontiere, already established in 2015, with the first corporate volunteering project "Minors and the network" and confirms the Company's commitment alongside Italian families on this issue. “In Generali Italia – he declared Marco Sesana, Country Manager and Chief Executive Officer of Generali Italia – we are committed to playing an active role in improving people's lives and creating a positive impact on communities and the local area. With "Bullyctionary" we want to be alongside people in their daily lives, accompanying young people and families to manage and prevent difficult situations related to the phenomenon of cyberbullying". Dino Maurizio, President of Informatici Senza Frontiere Onlus commented the initiative as follows: “Informatici Senza Frontiere is in favor of information technology that respects the value and dignity of every man, especially if in situations of disadvantage or weakness due to age, social conditions and other critical issues. We can therefore only look favorably on any initiative that safeguards minors from any threat that may come from the Internet, including cyberbullying. We are therefore pleased to collaborate with Generali Italia on this front with all the technical means at our disposal".
