Cyber attacks increased 10 times in 2 years: Cybertech Europe 2019 in Rome

Over the past 2 years i severe cyber attacks have increased 10-fold compared to the previous two years. In 2018 alone, 1.552 attacks occurred. In parallel cyber espionage crimes grew by 57%. with geopolitical or industrial purposes. Among the first dangers worldwide is the theft of intellectual property.

Global risks are therefore growing more and more and with them the IT security market. The other side of the coin is in fact that one sector, cybersecurity, which is going through a boom phase and which according to estimates in 2021 will be worth about 180 billion dollars.

These and other topics will be addressed in the course of Cybertech Europe 2019, an international event on cyber security to be held on 24 and 25 September in Rome, at the La Nuvola Convention Center, organized in collaboration with Leonardo.

“The significant increase in cyber attacks in recent years requires greater commitment in terms of resources to be allocated to Cyber Security. The fact that the cost of the cyber threat grows faster than investments is triggering a dangerous spiral, which puts national autonomy and security and the entire digital civilization at risk", he commented Alessandro Profumo, CEO of Leonardo.
