The third edition of the sporting event is underway and will see several races taking place on the day Sunday March 3 2024: Bologna Marathon with its 42,195 km, the 30 km of the Portici, dedicated to one of the most characteristic and important symbols of the city, the XX edition of the UnipolMove RUN TUNE UP, historic half of Bologna and the Tecnocasa Bologna CityRun, non-competitive 5 km race. The first is also scheduled for Saturday 2 March Tigotà Kids Marathon, a special event dedicated to girls and boys, aged 4 to 10.

By presenting the bib (physical or photographic) of at least one of the five competitions at the cash desks of the civic museums, participants will be entitled to some concessions, for himself and two companions:
free participation in 40 thematic guided tours in Italian and English and to a special one reception service in the rooms, on Friday 1, Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 March 2024, in seven museum locations (Civic Archaeological Museum, Civic Medieval Museum, MAMbo – Museum of Modern Art of Bologna, International Museum and Library of Music, Museum of Industrial Heritage, Civic Museum of the Risorgimento, Monumental Cemetery of the Certosa) to tell stories of sport and not only related to museum collections

reduced admission in all civic museums that require a paid entry ticket (Civic Archaeological Museum, Civic Medieval Museum, Municipal Art Collections, MAMbo – Museum of Modern Art of Bologna, Morandi Museum, International Museum and Library of Music, Museum of Industrial Heritage, Civic Museum of the Risorgimento), valid from 1 March to 30 June 2024.

Alongside an introductory itinerary that guides visitors to discover the museum's masterpieces, a themed guided tour on sport in the classical world, where sport and competition were not just a "hygienic" practice, but had - especially in the Greek world – moral and political implications and came to affect many areas of life, including the cultic and funerary. Sport therefore in monumental statuary, on ceramics, on coins, in bronzes, in the places and objects of daily body care, to reiterate a ritual that, from the Greek world, passing through the Etruscan and Roman ones, lasts up to the present day.

The warrior game: the favorite sport of our Bolognese ancestors

A path dedicated to the war game in medieval and modern times. Created to keep noble knights in training during times of peace and above all to show off power, jousts and tournaments were always greatly appreciated by the various social classes. Lances, armour, helmets, crests and spurs will accompany the visitor into the world of chivalry in Bologna.

Bodies in motion / Moving bodies

Certosa Monumental Cemetery (entrance via della Certosa 18)

On the wings of victory

A walk together with Roberto Martorelli to understand the birth of modern sport, a consequence of the profound social changes between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
