Record Ctz: boom demand and two-year yields at 0,428%, the lowest since the birth of the euro

Full success of the Treasury auction and declining Btp-Bund spreads - The Stock Exchange is weak due to the decline in banks - However, Eni and Telecom Italia stand out - Signs of a revival in luxury with Luxottica and Tod's clearly rising - The euro weakens on the dollar gaining on all currencies.

Another record for the Italian Treasury. All of the 2,25 billion biennial Ctz were placed at a yield of 0,428% (0,591% the previous yield), the lowest since the birth of the euro. Also absorbed were 555 million Btpei maturing in 2018 at 0,25% and 445 million Btpei maturing in 2026 at 1,66%. The demand for Ctz is very strong: 4,5 billion, about double the quantity offered. After the auction, the Btp/Bund spread decreased slightly to 155 bp.

In Milan, the Ftse Mib index rose by 0,20% at lunchtime to 21.105. London +0,14% and Paris +0,35%, Madrid unchanged. Only Frankfurt fell -0,12%, the most exposed to the Ukrainian crisis. Goldman Sachs' advice to lower its short-term forecast on the stock market to neutral is being heard. The dollar is worth 1,344 against the euro. The Moscow Stock Exchange is down 1,5%, the lowest since May. The ruble weakens against the dollar to 35,35 from 35,14 at the close. 

In Italy, in July, the business confidence index compiled by Istat confirmed its highs since mid-2011, this month it dropped to 99,7 from 99,9 in June. The index which also includes service companies rose to 90,9 from 88,2. Credit companies suffer in Piazza Affari. The Popolari are suffering: Ubi Banca -1,3%, Banca Popolare di Milano -1,9%, Banco Popolare -1,5%. Mediobanca -1,7%. The decline of Unicredit and Intesa was less extensive, both down by 0,1%. MontePaschi -1,4%. 

Eni rises by 0,6% pending the first half accounts and news on the disposals: Claudio Descalzi, the group's CEO, intends to relaunch the project for the sale of a controlling stake in Saipem, down by 0,5% % so it can focus on oil and gas exploration and production, Reuters reported on Friday evening.

Ansaldo Sts also rose +0,6%. Today the railway signaling company presents the data for the quarter. The stock entered the list of companies to buy from a trading perspective developed by Mediobanca. Prelios and Satìras also leave the bank's portfolio, replaced by Finmeccanica and Generali. The parent company Finmeccanica loses 0,7%.

Enel Green Power -0,4% down, Enel up 0,2%, A2A -0,7%. Mediaset is down by 1,2%, Telecom Italia is up by 0,3%. Among the luxury companies, Yoox is up by 2,5%, Tod's by 1%. Fiat loses 1%, STMicroelectronics is unchanged, Prysmian rises by 1,2%.
