The Confindustria Study Center (Csc) reports an increase in industrial production of 0,5% in March on February, a month in which a drop of 0,3% on January was estimated. This is what emerges from the rapid survey on the industrial production of the CSC.

Production net of the different number of working days increased by 4,4% in March compared to March 2013. Order volumes recorded an improvement in March: +0,5% over February and +0,7% over March 2013.

In the first quarter of 2014, the CSC estimates an increase in industrial production of +0,5% over the quarter of 2013, when there was an increase of 0,9% over the third.

The information available for manufacturing anticipates the continuation of the current phase of slow recovery of activity also in the second quarter of this year, thanks to the contribution of internal demand.

The Istat survey of manufacturing firms reports an improvement in assessments of total order books in March, supported by the progress of internal orders. The balance relating to foreign orders remained unchanged. Three-month expectations on the level of production have been stable since January, while those on orders have risen to their highest value since the summer of 2011.
