Crypto Art from Cambi (Genoa-Milan) the first Italian NFT auction

The exhibition of the works in the halls of Cambi Casa d'Aste in Milan had a continuous flow of participation during all three opening days, attracting not only new potential collectors, but also entrepreneurial realities active in the field of digital assets

Crypto Art from Cambi (Genoa-Milan) the first Italian NFT auction

La first auction of Cambi auction house dedicated to Crypto Art indeed awarded more than 60% of the works since publication, which have increased on average 25% in value compared to estimates for a total of over 30 ETH (almost 60.000 euros at today's currency conversion). Of the 72 works sold on SuperRare, 11 were part of the collection Dystopian Visions. Another important result, 2 works were positioned among the 10 best sellersof SuperRares during the 10 days of the Auction; among these, the Top Lot of the Auction, the work Robotica by Giuseppe Lo Schiavo, sold for 8ETH.

The whole operation lasted a total of 10 days and between the various activities were presented two webinars informative tools that aimed to give a broader perspective on the NFT space to the general public and collectors, as well as provide the necessary tools on how to navigate the crypto world, such as: opening a digital wallet or understanding the dynamics of an NFT auction online.

Matthew Cambi, president of Casa d'Aste Cambi, comments on the result of the sale as follows: “We are fully satisfied with the result obtained. For Cambi it was important that the auction was a success, but above all that we began to talk about NFTs also with "traditional" enthusiasts and collectors. We are convinced that this world will have its relevance in the future of Contemporary Art, and it is in the nature of our auction house to face new challenges with initiative".

"We have seen tremendous interest from the public, despite a generally challenging market environment over the last few months. The key factor was entering the space from an institutional perspective and setting foot in a market with its own logic, in which no one in Italy had yet ventured. There is always a certain risk and gratification in being the pioneers of something never done before”. - He says Bruno Pitzalis, the coordinator of the auction.

"The challenge we have set ourselves in presenting a selection of very young and talented artists, and moreover all Italians, has been our goal from the beginning. We wanted to bring together the new creators of the digital world, connecting them with their public of collectors, both online and in person. CAMBI and SuperRare have joined forces demonstrating their belief in the art of tomorrow, building a solid foundation and a relationship of trust with collectors of all ages and wallets.” - he claims Serena Tobacco, the curator of the collection.

We have often heard of NFTs as speculation. The operation Dystopian Visionswanted to present itself as an auction curated with particular attention aimed at highlighting the art and contents rather than the speculative elements (of the crypto world). NFT digital art is no longer just a term for the first memorabilia of the history of the Internet, but it is an artistic genre, where the quality metrics with the passage of time become more and more defined and precise, making it possible to distinguish the true creators from the speculators.

The fact remains that NFTs, despite still being an extremely new and poorly regulated phenomenon, are at the forefront and tell the story of the contemporary in a futuristic key. Nowadays creatives use technology to create new worlds, going beyond the three-dimensional perception of the world and pushing the boundaries of the avant-garde, between augmented and virtual realities – making use of all the technologies at their disposal that will define the future of contemporary art, in both utopian and dystopian perspectives.
