On December 22, 1973, a match between two of Spain's biggest football clubs, FC Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid, took place and was goalless for much of the first half. Then, in the 44th minute, he receives a cross ready to sail beyond the area; it seemed to goalkeeper Miguel Reina that it would be a goal kick. But Cruyff leapt into the air, kicked the ball high in the neck and redirected it past Reina, the kind of goal never seen before. Barça went on to beat their rivals 2-1 and Cruyff earned the nickname 'The Flying Dutchman' or el holandés volador. However, someone had to be first, and Cruyff became a legend.

Now, theFC Barcelona commemorates the Cruyff goal with a unique NFT that will be placed on theauction on July 29. The digital work "In a Way, Immortal" depicts Cruyff's flying kick as a weightless molten gold statue of gravity.

Cruyff's transition from jump to kick in flight can be seen on film even without slow motion. It is significant that FC Barcelona chose Cruyff for his first NFT: he is recognized today as one of the best players in the game, largely due to that history-making goal that marked the game in his first season with the club.

Forty Hollywood digital and visual artists collaborated on the three-dimensional image, which took more than ten thousand hours to complete

In a Way, Immortal tells the legendary goal of Johan Cruyfff into poetic molten gold animation created by a team of 40 of Hollywood's most talented computer graphics (CG) and visual effects (VFX) artists. The 40-second film is accompanied by an original soundtrack played by a 30-piece orchestra, incorporating real sounds of the Camp Nou stadium and FC Barcelona fans. The Hollywood CG and VFX team worked on all aspects of the production, from one digital sculpture by Johan Cruyff to the simulation of golden fluids, textures and shades, cutting-edge cinematography and camera work. The production of digital sculpture of Cruyff it required over a thousand man hours and the overall production involved a total of over 10.000 production hours.

One of the goals of the project is to redefine glthe NFTs creating a product premium experiential into a cinematic experience. The future owner of this NFT, who will have title to Barca Digital Ambassador, will also be able to enjoy exclusive benefits and experiences based on the Club, such as access to training sessions.
