Crisis at the Ice, after Onida the whole Editorial Committee resigns

It's a crisis at ICE: a few days before the annual meeting in Naples, the internal split anticipated by FIRST is officialonline. After dentries by Fabrizio Onida, in fact, the entire Editorial Committee resigned. The break with President Carlo Ferro is thus official and full-blown. The reasons are to be found in the censure, made by the president appointed to the Lega share, on the contents of the report prepared by Onida and the Committee - together with the research office of the Institute which promotes foreign trade - precisely in view of the annual meeting. According to Ferro, too much emphasis on Europe and too much pessimism on the economy.

An approach that Fabrizio Onida, a renowned economist and former president of ICE thought he could not accept. The editorial committee, made up of experts from numerous universities, from Luiss to the Milan Polytechnic and Ca' Foscari, followed suit closely.

The decision of President Ferro, write the members of the committee, was communicated by email in which «it is argued, among other things, that the text prepared for the synthesis would have elements of pessimism and criticism and would be invalidated by an "apology of the European Commission". «In primis, the management and the President of Ice have the power to express guidelines and suggestions, which are always welcome», affirm the outgoing economists, but «the Editorial Committee and its President must be able to operate independently in defining the texts of the report, fulfilling its role as guarantor of the scientific quality of the analyzes produced". So they reaffirm their «No to analyzes bent on the logic of a political party».
