The one that in America has been renamed “Blockchain Mania” shows no sign of stopping. In fact, in the coming months, she may even reach her highest level.
Despite the ups and downs of Bitcoin and the concern of economists, the cryptocurrency universe continues to expand like wildfire. A few days ago, the news that Kodak will launch its own digital currency for photographers. But in a few months the cards on the table could be totally reshuffled by theentry of Telegram.
The famous instant messaging app, famous for its very high level of security, which now has over 180 million users worldwide, is preparing to launch what is called Ico, i.e. an initial coin offering (initial currency offering) which could be the highest ever.
We talk about beyond 1,2 billions of dollars, to be divided between institutional and private. To make the extent of the investment clear, it is enough to say that the previous record belongs to Filecoin, which in September 2017, thanks to a blockchain created for a network for sharing unused computer memory space, managed to raise 257 million euros. Not only that, in total, if you add up all the ICOs launched last year, the market is worth around $4 billion.
The news was revealed by TechCrunch and it has also been confirmed by numerous sources in the press. Going into details, next March, Telegram should place the new Gram on the griptocurrency market (i.e. the proprietary cryptocurrency) in exchange for euros and dollars. The new digital currency will lead to a project called Telegram Open Network (Tons), and is defined as a "third generation blockchain", with capacities greater than that used by Bitcoin. Not only coins, but also messages and files should circulate on the Ton.
The new electronic money of course would travel through Telegram, giving users the ability to make cryptocurrency payments within the App. A feature that would also ensure greater security thanks to the encryption for which it is famous.
If the project is really successful, with Telegram's entry into the market, the universe of cryptocurrencies risks undergoing a real revolution.
