On the chaos Rome takes the field Beppe Grillo. The founder of the 5 Star Movement, Wednesday evening in Nettuno in the square, saves Virginia Raggi, on the ropes after the tug of war against the councilor Muraro and her staff in the Campidoglio, but rags are flying within the movement: the Grillino population is in revolt after the silences of Luigi Di Maio, a member of the directorate and potential candidate leader, on the investigation in which the councilor for the environment of the Municipality of Rome was involved and of which he himself had been made aware since 4 August although he always denied it. And the tension remains high inside and outside the starry world.
From the Nettuno stage, Di Maio admitted that he had read the messages with which Paola Taverna and Fabio Massimo Castaldo, from the grillino directorate, had informed him of the Muraro affair since 4 August. He apologizes: “I made a mistake. I thought that the accusations against Muraro – it is his defense – came from a manager of the Democratic Party ”, that is, the former CEO of Ama, Alessandro Fortrini, who however he does not name. In fact, the candidate leader from Grillino is placed under a police station, according to the statements of Carla Ruocco, also a member of the directorate, who privately said: "After one Di Maio has been archived, another one is made". The star of the designated leader therefore loses light while that of Alessandro Di Battista rises, also in Nettuno, who is applauded when he says: “Let's admit our mistakes, let's take the stage together and everything will be resolved. We must not allow them to massacre us, they are waiting for nothing else”. Grillo in turn defends Virginia Raggi and compares her "to the first black mayor - these are her exact words - who was elected in 1968 in Mississippi". On the evening of grillino pride, Beppe Grillo argues that the scandal that broke out in Rome is only a matter of interest because Raggi "saved 90 million in two months and whoever lost these 90 million did the math".
But if the official version is that the fault lies with the "system" which is raging against the Grillina junta, the reality is that Grillo rushed to Rome to appease the storm. He sent a signal to the mayor: “” Raggi will go ahead and we will monitor ”. He therefore directly regains control and the mini-directorate which until now had had the task of "controlling" the junta is effectively eliminated. Only a phone call with the mayor, and not a meeting, to agree on the compromise that allows the unity of the movement to be preserved. The tipping point is that Deputy Cabinet Chief Raffaele Marra, a close associate of Raggi, will be dismissed and moved to the Economic Development department. The other protagonist of the "magic ray", Salvatore Romeo, will instead have his salary halved (from 105 to 53 thousand euros). However, the commissioner for the budget De Dominicis, indicated by the Sammarco law firm, will not change. Councilor Muraro is safe for now, but it is not known for how long.
The last joke of Neptune's five-star evening concerns the Rome 2024 Olympics. Di Battista launches a firm No to the capital's candidacy: if he prevails within the movement, there will be no margin for the promoting committee, but the match is still to be play until October 7, the date by which Rome will have to present its candidacy to the International Olympic Committee or give up, as explained by the president of Coni Giovanni Malagò, for a few decades.
