Credit Suisse suffered a net loss of 700 million francs in the second quarter of 2014. The number two of Swiss banks explains the negative result with the 2,5 billion dollar fine it had to pay to the United States. Last year, in the same period, it had in fact recorded a profit of 1,04 billion.

"With the agreement announced in May that closed all outstanding cross-border issues with the United States, we have left behind the longest and most important dispute in the history of Credit Suisse", said the head of the Swiss group Brady Dougan.

Considering the first half as a whole, Credit Suisse achieved a net profit of 159 million francs overall. During the first six months of 2013, the surplus was 2,35 billion.
