Credem plants over 250 trees in Sicily

Credem, in collaboration with Treedom, will plant 254 trees in the Alcantara valley in addition to the 130 already present. In total they will absorb more than 19 kilos of CO2

believe, Together with Treedom, will plant more than 250 trees to teach customers and staff a Respect the enviroment. Since last 22th April (World Earth Day) al 31th December 254 trees will be planted, corresponding to one tree a day.

The forest will grow into Sicily in the Alcantara valley, where the “Carpe Diem Association – Together for autism” will promote the socialization of young people with autism, and in the area of ​​Motta Sant'Anastasia with the “Beppe Montana Free Land Cooperative” where the social recovery of assets freed from the mafias will be favoured in the province of Catania.

Credem's initiative has two goals: Replace the plastic devices for generating one-time passwords for confirming customers' online banking transactions (Mr Pin) with the virtual version on the App or via sms and spread the digital signature in banking operations to save paper.

The 254 trees will add to the 130 already present since the end of last year. The Credem "forest" will reach a total of almost 400 trees which will absorb more than 19 thousand kilos of CO2.

In the long run Credem wants to stimulate more and more the adoption of environmental sustainability practices. In fact, the Group will allow planting one new tree for every 500 kilos of CO2: at the end of the year the corresponding number of trees will be counted and planted.

This initiative adds to the sustainability path undertaken by the Group which it envisages the purchase of electricity from renewable sources with a saving of 9.500 tons of CO2, the self-production of electricity through the photovoltaic system installed and the recycling of about 97% of waste.

"We strongly believe that there is no development without the responsible use of resources and we therefore believe that it is important, in all contexts of action of our Group, to commit ourselves to creating growing awareness and attention in this area", declared Lucio Igino Zanon of Valgiurata, President of Credem.
