Covid, Sardinia against everyone: "We are not a land of outbreaks"

Covid, Sardinia against everyone: "We are not a land of outbreaks"

There is talk of Coronavirus outbreaks in Sardinia, but the Region is not there. To the point of wanting to proceed through legal channels. For the moment there are 2 main outbreaks: the tourist village of Santo Stefano and the discos on the Costa Smeralda. But what is worrying are these last 10 days of August, when thousands of tourists will embark to go home, with the risk of taking not only their personal belongings but also the virus with them.

In recent days, the island of Quattro Mori has recorded a high number of infections, numbers not seen since last April, in full lockdown. Currently in the tourist village of Santo Stefano are 26 Coronavirus positives, among the 475 people who were stranded at the facility in La Maddalena, after a seasonal worker tested positive for the virus.

A situation that has created fiery controversy. As the President of Sardinia, Christian Solinas, which rejects the label of "outbreak in Sardinia" - even ready to sue - underlining that the Region has never had an indigenous viral circulation, but that the cases concern tourists or Sardinians infected during holidays abroad. Blame? According to Solinas it is only from the government.

Finally, the Northern League president returned to talking about the old plan, the one proposed by the council and rejected by the government, according to which each passenger had to present a certificate certifying the negativity of the swab. But a plan that was easier said than done and which risked completely compromising the tourist season in Sardinia.

Backed by Franco Mula, Sardinian group leader, which points the finger at the Government, according to which it is unable to deal with the health emergency but which leaves the task on the shoulders of the Sardinian Region.

Also Ugo Cappellacci of Forza Italia does not remain silent. The problem? The 25 illegal immigrants positive for the virus that the Government has let "roam freely on our land, when it is doing everything to get out of the pandemic". As if Sardinia were the only one to fight this war. Perhaps they have already forgotten when the first outbreak broke out in Lombardy, so much so that they are accused of racism.

Meanwhile, infections are not only increasing in Sardinia, but also from Sardinia, especially in Lazio. To intervene is the Councilor for Health of the Region, Alessio D'Amato, according to which "failure to respect the rules in Sardinian nightlife venues risks detonating a viral bomb - and continues D'Amato - If the minimum rules had been respected, this situation would not have arisen".

A culprit is sought where solutions should be found. On the one hand, the Government that points the finger at collective irresponsibility, especially of young people, who have "forgotten" the invisible enemy, on the other Sardinia, which rails against the Government for a reopening of the regions without control.

A dog chasing its tail. Whenever there are new outbreaks, or at least small centers of spread, we talk about "infectors", as if that were the problem and not try to contain a second wave of infections. It is now clear that our country continues to be split in half.
