Covid, reduced quarantine for asymptomatic from 7 to 5 days: here are the new rules

Quarantine rules change in case of positivity to Covid: from 7 to 5 days for asymptomatic people and from 21 to 15 for "long-term" positives. This is what the circular issued by the Ministry of Health establishes which reviews and updates the methods of managing cases and close contacts of positivity to Covid. The new rules will also involve professors and students who will soon return in class with no more dad.

In detail, the quarantine period is reduced from 7 to 5 days for asymptomatic positive subjects, with a negative swab on the fifth day and two days without symptoms. Otherwise you will have to stay at home until new negative test. As it passes from 21 to 15 days the maximum period of isolation in case the positivity to the virus persists "regardless of carrying out the test", this on the basis of the lower infectivity after two weeks.

The circular, signed by the director of prevention of the ministry of health, Gianni Rezza, was issued "as a result of the cessation of the state of emergency and the opinion issued by the Superior Health Council on 24 August last".

Quarantine, Gimbe: "Covid cases are falling but curve in plateau phase"

Meanwhile, according to what emerges from the Gimbe Foundation's weekly monitoring of the coronavirus for the period 24-30 August, cases of Covid-19 fall again (-15,8%) but "since mid-August the curve has been in a plateau phase, beyond modest fluctuations". Also declining intensive therapies (-11%), ordinary hospitalizations (-14,9%) e deaths (24,4%). However, people at risk of serious illness are increasing: in the susceptible population group (over 60 and frail) as of August 31, there were as many as 15,2 million without a fourth dose, in addition to 892 who were not vaccinated, 1,88 million without third dose.

“In this phase of relative stability of the new infections, the descent of the fifth wave has now stopped and the viral circulation remains high: as of August 30, over 660 positives (largely underestimated number), a positivity rate of antigenic swabs at 16% and an average of over 21 new cases a day – said the president of the Foundation Nino Cartabellotta -. Numbers destined to increase with the resumption of work activities, the reopening of schools, the greater attendance of closed places, the revocation of the obligation to wear a mask on public transport from 30 September and the ventilated reduction of the isolation period from 7 to 5 days prior negative test and 21 to 15 days for positives”.
