Covid, Italy armored throughout April: stop to large ships in Venice, turnaround for competitions

Throughout the month of April Italy remains armored and will always be in red or orange zone, with all the restrictions and prohibitions of the case. This is what the Council of Ministers decided yesterday evening which, faced with the new data on infections, hospitalizations and deaths caused by the pandemic, confirmed that it is not the time to let our guard down.

Consequently, the new decree of the Draghi government establishes that until April 30 it will be forbidden to move from one region to another and which remain closed restaurants, bars, cinemas, theatres, gyms and swimming pools. Forbid the visits to relatives and friends in the red zone, possible in the orange zone as long as in the same region and only once a day for a maximum of two people. There can only be an easing of the squeeze if the pandemic data improves.

The anti-Covid decree approved by the Council of Ministers also provides for two new features: the obligation to vaccinate those who work in the health sector, including pharmacists, and the ban on regional ordinances, such as for example on school, which will be present until sixth grade.

The anti-Covid measures have obviously been the main dish of the Council of Ministers which, however, has also taken decisions of a completely different kind, but very important, such as the turning point for the competitions and the stop to large ships in Venice. In the field of Public Administration they were competitions already banned or to be banned quickly have been unlocked during the emergency with guarantees of full safety and simplified procedures for those fully operational. "Let's finally give hope to thousands of people and - said the Minister of Public Administration, Renato Brunetta - let's allow the Public Administration to regenerate itself after years of blocking turnover and impoverishment" of public structures.

Another important novelty issued by the Council of Ministers is the stop to the big cruise ships in Venice which definitively and structurally solves an ancient problem that has created enormous problems for the lagoon city. Large ships will be able to approach but not reach or cross Venice and will have to dock outside the lagoon. A long-awaited measure, even if opposed by local traders and restaurateurs, which finally protects the artistic, cultural and environmental heritage of Venice and its lagoon, eliminating the risks that the transit of the giants of the sea entailed.
