Covid: the government swerves, Mattarella calls him back, the minister between two fires. In the balance the masks in the hospital

Il Meloni government he certainly didn't start off on the right foot in the fight against Covid. The sign of discontinuity that Prime Minister Meloni would like to give with respect to the previous management of the Minister of Health, Roberto Hope, are arousing more criticism and perplexity than consensus, to the point that even the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, to suggest to the Executive to correct the shot. “The worst is over, but the virus he is not defeated” said the Head of State: a few words to the good connoisseur.

COVID, THE THREE POINTS OF THE GOVERNMENT THAT TOMORROW WILL BE AT THE CENTER OF THE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS

The Government has left a lance on Covid with three moves that cause discussion and which will be at the center of the Council of Ministers tomorrow: 1) immediately suspend the vaccination obligation for healthcare personnel, bringing the expiry of the rule forward from 31 December to 3 November and reinstating the over 2 No Vax doctors and nurses; 30) freeze fines for No Vax until 2023 June 3 through an amendment to the Aid Decree; XNUMX) maintain or not the use of masks in hospitals and RSA, whose obligation expires tomorrow and which initially the new Minister of Health, Horace Schillaci, wanted to eliminate tout court but who reserved the right to decide at the last minute after a technical consultation with the Spallanzani hospital in Rome and above all after the eloquent and firm reminder of President Mattarella.

COVID, THREE HYPOTHESES FOR MASKS

According to what La Repubblica reports this morning, there are three alternatives facing the Government regarding masks: 1) confirming the obligation to wear masks for doctors and nurses and strongly recommend its use to visitors; 2) confirm the obligation to wear a mask in the most exposed health environments such as the emergency room, outpatient clinics and hospital wards but eliminate it in places that are not strictly for treatment such as hospital bars, waiting rooms, tills; 3) maintain the obligation to wear a mask for everyone in hospitals and nursing homes after the reminder of the Head of State and the concerns expressed by the Regions and the world of health, as the President of the Orders of Doctors, Filippo Anelli, said yesterday, according to which " getting out of the emergency fae doesn't mean letting your guard down”. The well-known Genoese infectious disease specialist, Matteo Bassetti, also spoke out for the maintenance of the masks, at least in the health care environments most at risk.

Now the word belongs first of all to the new Minister of Health, who is a doctor and who therefore knows the subject well, but who must demonstrate that he is able to resist the demagogic thrusts that rise from the right and from the No Vax world.

  1. The masks must be eliminated, full stop. It does not appear at all that in the countries that have thrown them out of hospitals there have been massacres. Enough with the paranoia and with the closure, of which the infamous gag is the worst symbol. If the new government decides to keep them, it will have a bad time.
    STOP, seriously.
