Covid and trade in crisis: Generali launches new proposals

There is no recovery without business, and vice versa. The latest initiative by Generali Italia in support of the business world, in this case the SMEs of commerce, overwhelmed by the economic crisis in the last year due to Covid, can be summarized with this play on words. Not by chance the service package is called “Activa Commercio” and applies to commercial activities the mantra already chosen by the Trieste insurance group for all its customers: to be not only insurers but life partners, in this case a 360-degree business partner. The new formula, which is also available in the version for those who rent out their premises to someone else's business, aims at tailor-made solutions for protect business continuity and revenue first, which are the two priorities of Italian companies in this phase, identified by a survey conducted by Ipsos. But there is also digital protection, assistance and risk prevention.

“Protecting assets and in particular guaranteeing liquidity, and not losing one's customers are by far the two most heartfelt themes of Italian commercial activities. Half of the entrepreneurs fear for the survival of their business", explained the CEO of Ipsos Nando Pagnoncelli, in the online presentation conference, in which it was also recalled that the Generali Italia initiative is aimed at a fabric that counts over 1,7 million businesses (95% micro-enterprises with fewer than 10 employees), with over 4 million workers. Thus, the protection of continuity includes specific clauses such as the protection even if an event involving the activity causes the interruption of that of neighbors or suppliers, or – for example in the catering sector – if the activity is interior of a shopping center.

As far as assets are concerned, Generali, which today already insures one company out of four in Italy, offers civil liability protection towards third parties and workers, to defend themselves against requests for compensation for personal damage and property damage caused by the entrepreneur, employees, family members who collaborate or independent collaborators; as well as claims for damages caused to employees, also for occupational diseases. Legal protection is also provided, to give financial support in the event of disputes and legal actions arising in relation to the activity.

The activity is also protected in a material sense, in the sense that the offer includes a whole series of physical risks for the company headquarters such as fire, explosion and explosion, damage to systems, atmospheric and socio-political events (damage from demonstrations, for example) , catastrophic events as they may be earthquakes, floods, floods, water bombs, but also the protection for refrigerated or transported goods, for online commerce, for the loss of rents. Digital protection, on the other hand, concerns all electronic devices, including portable ones, and the software that is used for the activity, from cash registers to PCs and so on. Destroyed or damaged software and computer files are also protected and it is also possible to hedge against cyber risk and computer attacks, with technical assistance in the related legal actions.

“Generali, with the solidity of 190 years of history - commented Marco Sesana, CEO of Generali Italia -, today wants to be ever closer to entrepreneurs for the economic recovery and stability of the country. The first solution of this year, Attiva Commercio, is dedicated to the support for commercial micro-enterprises, which have always been central to the Italian productive fabric. We respond to the priorities of entrepreneurs in this sector, among the most affected by the crisis, to restart quickly and seize new opportunities".
